I recently had the pleasure of getting a thorough behind-the-scenes tour of HSN's St. Petersburg campus (Corporate headquarters) so that I would better understand their business operations. HSN is a $3.3 billion interactive multichannel retailer, and according to their promotional material they offer innovative, differentiated retail experiences on TV, online, via mobile devices, in catalogs, and in brick and mortar stores. The HSN family of television stations now reaches 95 million homes (24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year). The HSN campus is located in the Gateway area of Clearwater / St. You'll see the big executive offices tower along Roosevelt Boulevard as you turn in off of I-275. You'll need to call ahead and be cleared by their physical security people before being allowed onto the campus.
Inside the security perimeter are a number of buildings which house the executive offices, television production, merchandising, and online retail divisions of the company. I had the opportunity of walking through the customer contact center and watching some of their agents as they talked with shoppers on the phone and helped answer questions while completing the various transactions. This whole section of HSN is incredibly sophisticated, and depends heavily on some high-end technology solutions. From there we walked through several of the television stages and saw the production teams setting up for the live broadcasts. I had the chance to see the Quality Assurance (QA) area where the buyers evaluate the various products that are sold by HSN, and saw some of the rigorous product testing (similar to Consumer Laboratories). The folks in the 'fashion' area were scurrying around with swatches of fabric and color palettes, and I'm sure they were very impressed by the tie I was wearing that day (at least no one snickered at me for my fashion choices). Of course HSN also has a massive online retail division where shopping takes place on your computer, your tablet / laptop, and even your mobile device.
The whole retail shopping experience was fascinating, and it gave me a great appreciation for the attention to detail that goes into selecting the products, preparing them to be shown / sold on the air, and the process of marketing everything online. This is a great business that is local to our Tampa Bay region, and I'm happy to support their efforts at every opportunity. First time in my life, I shopped HSN because I was searching for a particular item and google revealed that it was on sale on hsn.com.
Additionally, it was advertised that it was HSN's 40th birthday, so here's some extra discounts. As I was shopping around on the site, I experienced several glitches. Products would not reveal information, but only a solo image would appear. The site constantly froze up, Pop Ups repeatedly shoved their way onto my screen and proceeded to plant themselves there.
Fine, I get it, things happen with the internet. Upon my attempt to check out, the browser would prompt me to submit payment and contact information and then upon pressing 'enter' or 'submit,' the page would freeze entirely or just wipe out and refresh. Entering discounts - same story. *Keep in mind, I am also browsing and shopping Amazon, Target, Walmart, Ebay, Google and on Facebook and Gmail - all at the same time - smoothly, no issues with any of these other sites.
Ok, I'm a patient person. I try out the HSN chat option. This is not available 24/7, like most every other site, but they have a 8-5 EST structure. Ok, I'm not in that timezone, but it's almost 8am there. I hit up the chat. I get a few lines in with the employee and BAM!
The chat glitches and suddenly, I can no longer 'Send' my messages and they are being lost into cyber space. Nothing on the pages move. I refresh the browser and try another chat - same thing happens and I cannot reconnect. I decide to give it one more shot and call customer service. Rings about 10 times and then I get a recorded message listing all these items for purchase and 'press one for the beautiful pin.' Are you fucking kidding me?
I hit '0' multiple times until the call transfers. It rings another dozen times and a woman answers. Her attitude is 'What.' Then, she tells me she has to transfer me to customer service.
WELL WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU, DARLIN???! 'Customer Service' picks up the line. RUDE TO THE MAX DEGREE. I told the lady everything with which I was having difficulty (and, I am a patient person, so I kindly explain things.) Her response to me was 'Well, it sounds like you have to clear out your cookies on your browser. Bla blah blah and some other shit. Clean out your cookies and the cache will affect our website. If you don't know how to do that, just google it.'

They were back ordered but were sent to me went they became available. I did not initially notice that HSN had sent me one of the jeans in the wrong size. This is a nightmare that keeps on going.When I called them to explain, they said that they would credit me immediately, which they did.
However, No return postage mailer was ever received. Now I've received mail stating that they plan to rebill me if they don't receive the jeans back.I again asked for return postage and paperwork to include with the package, but have received nothing. Complete nightmare dealing with HSN.
Purchased very heavy (80lb) air conditioner from them. It arrived with a large hole in it.
When I call to inform HSN I was returning the unit, I was told I would have to take the unit back to a UPS warehouse myself! As UPS would not pick it up from my residence.
That was a lie. UPS did pick it up from my residence however I had to pay for the return which I did. Now awaiting refund from HSN and I think I received it minus the cost of shipping, which is ridiculous. I will never buy anything from HSN again! I am forced to give HSN 1 star as there is not an option to give 0 stars. I called customer service to order the special 'Dash Complete Egg Cooker and Serving Set to Go' 454-182. This product states you get the complete egg cooker and serving set however; this is misrepresented.
This is a pure bait & switch representation. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she informed me that she is going to have it changed but she would not fill my order with the complete egg cooker and serving set as stated in the product description. I am furious that they would not honor this add and I am writing this to let others know that HSN does not stand by their advertisement. I will not be purchasing any other product from HSN. They have lost my business. There are reputable online companies other than HSN to order from. I am also turning them in to the BBB.
