'Hi guys, I am trying to add serial numbers to items in a handling unit in an outbound delivery (Sales Order) using SERNR_ADD_TO_HU. The FM executes with SY-SUBRC 0 and SERIAL_COMMIT = 'X'. But the serial number does not get added to the HU. Or if you know of another way to add serial to a handling unit item. BDC does not seem to be a great idea since the screen requires the cursor to be placed on the item.

SAP uses the FM in twoplaces only out of which: 1. In program LHU_INITIAL_DATA_LOADF06 this has been put in a condition which will never trigger 2. And in program 'LV51PF17' but, this program is used nowhere. So, SAP is actually not using this FM anywhere. I have also looked for any OSS notes.

Infact, I have already tried out all the possible ways and thus, posted the querry here because, I found that a lot of other people also raised the question but, never got the answer!! Nobody said it was going to be easy;) On the other hand. I'd go for a different strategy: do a where used list on this FM (just to see if it is used inside of SAP (WE aren't using HU, so I'm telling you what I'd do if I were in your shoes). Maybe evaluating how sap uses it gives you a hint. I'd also search for any oss note. HTH Horacio PS: BTW, SERIAL_LISTE_POST_HU has a non released Status. If you're using it you are doing it at your own risk. It can change, it can be deactivated in a support package, it can be deactivated after an upgrade.

Hi Alam, Serial number profile is maintained in MM. We create Sales Order-->Delivery -->Handling Unit. At this stage we want to add serial numbers to the HU items using ABAP code. The FM SERNR_ADD_TO_HU seemed to be the only one for this purpose.
