Myheritage Family Tree Builder Premium Keygen Free. Hi, I have a Gateway MT3705 laptop, purchased yesterday at Best Buy, which came with Vista preloaded. I played around with it a lot yesterday, but I came to the conclusion that Vista just isn't solid enough for my needs yet (though the eye candy is definitely cool!). So I want to go back to XP Pro, but I can't find the right XP drivers for many of the devices, as Gateway seems to only support Vista for their new models. The video issue is easy enough, and I got ATI Catalyst drivers for the xpress 200m inside. But beyond that, this is proving to be a real headache. I still need drivers for my modem, sound card, ethernet, and wifi controllers. There's an integrated media card reader that would be nice to get working, too.
Does anybody have ideas on how I could track these down, given the lack of drivers on the Gateway website? This page has a list of the components and part numbers and stuff, but it's all integrated chips and stuff, so I can't download the drivers from the manufacturers' own sites. Any ideas would be really welcomed! Oh, one idea I had is that if there are similar models that were released like last month, but with XP instead of Vista, their support pages should have the proper drivers. Anyone know such model numbers? Thanks a ton!

What if you were to use System Restore to get the machine back to the condition before you started to make major changes to the drivers or installed programs. Enable the built-in Administrator from Local Users and Groups. Use that to Delete any Users you have created. Return the Laptop to the store for refund or replacement with something that is loaded with XP?
Have you checked the store's refund policy or Warranty obligations? The above sites may help with drivers, if the hardware manufacturers cannot. This free program is handy to see what software or hardware is installed currently on any machine.

Hey man, I feel ya, i just typed a big letter in another forum, so forgive me for some cut and paste action to get the word out on this deelimma. And I Qoute; Mother of peril. Trying to get this thing rolled back to XP over the last few days has not been a treat. The XP drivers for the wirelesscard are the same Realtek wireless network adapter drivers a majority of other gateway M class/series laptops using XP would have. The 'track pad' works automaticly, as does the graphics card. But when you try to isntall the XP ATI drivers it always says 'unknown card' or something like that. I wish those drivers came via some sort of driver file rather than an exe..

Rubican, I was about to refer you to the Slickdeals discussion about this laptop, but then I saw you were already there:) I reinstalled Vista from the included disc, and it's definitely a lot faster without all the Gateway stuff clogging it up. I can't really deal with a lot of computer downtime right now (I bought this laptop to replace a suddenly broken one, so it's my primary pc), so I'm going to stick with Vista for the time being. I'll keep an eye out as I'm still quite interested in leaving Vista for XP.
Yesterday I tried to play a DVD and WMP told me there's a copy protection error between my video card and my display. This is a Netflix dvd! Luckily dvds seem to play fine through Nero Showtime, so I can live with that, though it's definitely aggravating. Anyway, good luck!

A bit faster than Vista, probably because it doesn't work the GPU as hard. I actually set this up as a dual boot machine.
I need XP at work to join a domain and for incompatible software, so finding the drivers wasn't an option. It is also nice to be able to switch back to Vista if I want to use the Media Card slot. If you take the dual boot route, make sure you install XP before Vista, otherwise its a huge pain to fix the boot configuration. I hope this helps. Vista will lose all saved System Restore points every time you boot into another operating system. It is something to do with Vista being unable to validate the consistency of the drive if XP (which it does) or another operating system (which might) writes to a drive monitored by Vista. They can't use Vista due to incompatabilities with some of the software their employer uses. I called Gateway. I was pleasently surprised w/ the short call wait, highly disappointed with being put on hold for 10 mins then told that they couldn't direct me to the drivers. Even after telling them I knew the machine had been sold w/ XP installed just 3 weeks ago, and threatening to return it, they would not relent.

I too have had the Vista pains and decided to go back to XP. I have a Gateway laptop serial# MT6451 that i bought at best buy. I have succesfully downloaded most of the drivers except for the Mass Storage Controller and the Modem Device on High SPeed Audio Bus drivers. Anyone else have luck with these? I've looked on the Gateway site and they only seem to have the modem device driver for Vista.
The downloaded the Sigmatel 9200 driver for my audio (which works) but now no modem. The modem is a 56K ITU V.92 ready fax/modem (RJ-11 port).

I did however get around the Wireless N Marvell Topdog card.
I ebayed an intel 3945ABG mini PCI-E card. Plopped it in and loaded drivers, works like a champ. It just cost an extra $20 on top of the cost of the laptop, but oh well, life goes on.

I am installing WinXP Pro to a Gateway MT6451, and Gateway offers no driver support except the ATI video card. I used Kloud's info for the sound and wired NIC, but this had a Broadcom wireless NIC with the BCM4311 chip, Google search on that chip found a driver and that driver worked. For the MASS STORAGE driver, I used the media card reader driver for Vista from the Gateway Website for the MT6451.
It all works and no warnings in the Device manager. But what a pain, this was about 6 hrs of work to step back in time to WinXP. I installed a fresh hard drive first and will put the original drive back in when Vista comes of age in the business world. Thanks to all for the posts.

Basically my Gateway wireless is Broadcom 1390 (chipset is BCM4311) so that driver should work and it does. Finally my son's Gateway MT6451 is working in WinXP Pro. He doesn't have to go to the toilet while waiting for Vista to boot up and being nagged constantly by Vista virus and bugs.
To summarize what I did to convert Vista to XP on Gateway laptop model Mt6451, here are the steps: 1) Buy a new 120GB laptop hard drive so I don't mess with Vista on the original drive (Optional) 2) Download jdesants files at the link above 3) Go to ATI/AMD site and download the Video driver Radeon Express 1150 and dual core optimizer. If you use WinXP hot fix for dual core, you don't need AMD dual core optimizer. 4) Go to the link to Gateway support below and download the wireless driver and utility. 5) Put every thing from step 2 to 4 to a flash drive 6) Set up your XP laptop.

I have two gateway MX8734's bought at Best Buy, they came pre-loaded with Vista, but I didn't want Vista on them, not compatable with company applications. So I have rolled them back to Win XP Pro with SP2.
At first the drivers were an issue, but I also had a fairly new MX6959 that had alot of the same hardware, I found this out by comparing vista drivers for the 6959 and the 8734's at gateways site and when the vista drivers matched, I downloaded the XP drivers for the 6959 and applied them to the 8734's also did a lot of searching on intels site for the correct drivers and also at realtek. The 6959 audio drivers, modem drivers and video drivers, as well as SATA controller drivers and media card drivers worked on the 8734's. Just format the drive- install xp pro - let it find everything - put those 5 files on a disk - and that's it (except for the wless card) or am I missing a step or 2? I see the mt3702; 3705; 5405; 6451 so the 3702 do work for the 6456?

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread for quite sometime and I happy to happy have found some useful information. The only thing that I have a problem with this the last 'Ethernet Controller' ~ according to Device Manager ~ I think, it's the WIFI driver. I'm not too sure. Has anyone came up with a solution or driver for this 'device'? ~ I'm trying to avoid buying a wireless adapter for my laptop, since this 'device' is not working.

I have basically the same problems-no Ethernet,multimeda audio & some PCI controllers-the drivers won't reinstall. I have a Gateway 6525GP that I also got at BestBuy. Gateway doesn't have the drivers & I'm not sure who the manufactuer is. I don't want to take my laptop apart. How do I know what other drivers Gateway has that might work for my model. Or please tell me somewhere else to look. I can't get on-line without the ethernet.

Open this link in a new tab of your web browser:. Download the 'WN311T Driver and Utility Version 4.1' driver package to your 'desktop' or 'software' folder of your choice. Double-click on the 'wn311t_setup_4_1.exe' install file to install the driver package. I plan on putting xp pro on it. I have seen where the nice gentleman posted the link to all the drivers needed except for the wireless lan. I also saw that you downloaded the video driver seperately. Could you please provide me the exact link to the download? Also, did you try the instructions on the bottom of this thread to update the wireless card with the driver mentioned? If so, did it work for you? Are there any special instructions I need to down before doing a fresh install of XP Pro?

I just cannot get on with it and I'm also having problems with software issues. I decided to format and revert back up XP pro. First, it wouldn't boot up telling I had no hard-drive.Eventually, I installed XP after taking my wife's Gateway disc from a diferent laptop which is running XP.
Went in ok, but had more problems with things like Sound card, Display, Lan etc. Contacted Gateway but not much help. So I re-installed Vista.
