Hi all, First of all thanks very much for the freeware PW Sceneries I experience a weird problem when trying to install PW Scenery Vol 5 on top op FlyTampa St Maarten (+ St Barths + Saba). I am running FSX Acceleration and FlyTampa St Maarten Complete v1.1.
I have experienced no problem before installing PWS Vol 5. When I install PWS Vol 5 (of course ticking the compatibility box) everything seems to work a should except the main island of St Maarten. As you can see on the screenshot I made looking from TNCM airport the whole island except TNCM and the runway and apron of TFFG are covered in water textures.
Common Alarm Installer Codes. The elevation of the 'land' seems to be right however. I just seem to miss the land textures. I already read some topics on this forum and I checked to see if the default St Maarten textures are ticked on and also present in the Scenery map of my FSX installation folders and they are. I have almost maxed out the scenery settings of FSX.
I have no other scenery installed anywhere near the area of St Maarten and surroundings. I have tried to untick the PWS Vol 5 in FSX settings but the problem persists. When I tick PWS Vol 5 and untick FlyTampa the textures are back again, but of course the airport is back to default.
When I untick both, the land textures are back to default and TNCM is kind of under the ground level, but that seems logical because of the changes PWS Vol 5 makes to the scenery. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
What seems weird to me is that the problem occurs after I install PWS Vol 5, but when I untick it in FSX scenery settings the problem persists. This indicates to me that PWS Vol 5 modifies a file somewhere outside of the Addon Scenery folder. Can that be correct? Thanks very much in advance for your help! Best regards, Menno The Netherlands Logged. Hi Menno, Its not PW Sceneries causing that.
PW Sceneries does not use FS9 water polys and thats the only way to get water textures to follow elevation (default FSX water flattens the elevation). If the problem dissapears when you untick FlyTampa, then there is clearly an issue with the Fly Tampa installation.
I run both sceneries myself so I know there are no issues with compatibility (unless FlyTampa have changed something fundamental recently I've not spotted). I recommend uninstalling both PWS Vol 5 and Fly Tampa and then reinstalling. Install Fly Tampa first and then check that everything looks right. Then install PWS again and see what happens. Let me know how you get on. Hi Paul, Thanks for your quick reponse. Ik tried the following: Patching FlyTampa to 1.2 beta (just in case is would make any difference) - Result: No change Uninstalling PWS Vol.5 - Result: Everything as it should be.
Default textures are back and TNCM is FlyTampa. TFFG is back to FSX default (covered with trees ) Uninstalling FlyTampa St. Maarten and all associated files - Result: Completely back to FSX default. Reinstalling FlyTampa St. Maarten - Result: No problems, FlyTampa St Maarten as it should be.
Reinstalling PWS Vol.5 - Result: Same as before. Maarten covered in water textures. I even noticed ships sailing on top op the mountains I am at a loss what could cause this problem. What keeps being weird in my eyes is that if I just disable the PWS scenery in FSX by unticking the box the waterproblem remains, but if I completely uninstall PWS the water problem is gone. How can that be? Keep in mind that I am not familiar how FSX works with addons, so this could probably easily be explained away I hope any one has some more suggestions I could try. Hi Paul, FlyTampa is indeed above PWS. It was the first thing I checked when I found the problem When I uninstalled PWS and then reinstalled without the compatibility box checked I get the below scenery. I did have to place PWS below FlyTampa myself this time, which seems logical. TNCM: Looks OK, just the terminal building. TFFJ: Seems OK, no problems I can find at a quick glance.
SABA: When I start at SABA FSX places me at sea level instead of on the runway. And if I look to the north I see a tile of land that is not supposed to be there. Hope this helps identifying my problem. Best regards, Menno EDIT: I switched the priority of the layers PWS and FlyTampa in FSX settings just to see what will happen. I get pretty much the same results for TNCM exept that both sceneries are visible at the same time.
Runway markings 10 and 9 and stuff like that. « Last Edit: October 22, 2012, 12:47:49 PM by spaceman » Logged.
