Select the species from the list. When you are the first time here the list is empty except for 'other' and 'hybrid', so click 'Select Other Species' button to select the new species of bird. It will open the window with a long list of bird organized by the family, genus and species. On top of the table you can see other orders for parrots and doves.

Find your bird and select and confirm your selection at the bottom of the table. Next time you click 'Add New Bird' the previous selected species will be in the drop-list. (The drop-list could be managed from 'All Species' section.) After you finished with 'Sex' and 'Status' click 'CONTINUE'.

You can upload a single picture to each profile or use already uploaded image from other bird profile. Click on [photo] to open window for upload pictures. To see all images that you upload go to ' section.

Images are displayed in different section of your database. You can upload only JPG images and they should be not more than 500KB. Bigger images will not improve anything: they usually scale to smaller size for proper display.

However, original images are used to print reports and could significantly increase the size of the files that they generate and slow down the performance. I would recommend to size your images to up to 800x800 pixels for best view on a screen and for print. Bigger sizes will not improve the quality of your print. At the bottom of your table you will see Events associated with this bird.

Please read about use of events in ' section. All Species This section allows you to manage the list of the species of birds in your profile. Species organized by families, genus and species. To select a new species of birds just click on 'Check icon- ' to turn them green and confirm your selection at the bottom of the table. By default this section displays order Passeriformes, where all finches belong. You can change the order to Psittaciformes - parrots, Columbiformes - doves and pigeons or others by selecting other order from the dropbox on top of the table.

We have over 10000 species of birds. For some selected species of birds you can see subspecies or types available. If you don't see your species of birds make sure that you click go to full list, or search before asking the administrator to add it to the list.

If you want to see all icons available to you, click 'see all icons' on the right top corner of the screen. If you go to Web links you can add new links that discribe the species. The second column has an icons that represent birds. These icons are assigned by default based on the species. For most species of birds you can change it.

To change the icon double click on it. It will open a new windows to select a new icon. You should see checkbox ' Use Default ICON'. Uncheck this box to see other icons available to you.

For some species this display could be customized to simplify the selection. In case of Gouldian Finch you have a long list to choose from, because there are many variations for this species (image on the left). For other species the selection window will look different. (Image on the right for Goldbreasted Waxbill). You can see all icons available from 'All Species' section. Just click ' on the right top from 'Species' table. There are some options you can change in 'My Birds' table.

If you click on (+) in 'Advanced Search' it will expand the panel where you can select the setting for default display. In my case, I want to hide everything that is no longer in-stock.

So, I pressed the status icons for deceased, sold and lost to turn them red, select order by id and click 'Save setting as default'. The next time when I open this table all deceased, sold and lost birds will be hidden and if I need I can always display them by changing the status buttons to green. You will see that in time as you add more and more records hiding birds that are no longer in-stock simplify management of your current birds. Give a name to a clutch, select the first brooding date and the due date.

You can add any additional information in memo section. In the Due Date field you can see buttons 12,13,14,15 and 16. They represent the number of days from the First Brooding Date for easy count. Click on a date and Due Date will be calculated from First Brooding Date.

Some numbers are in bold - they represent the incubation date for this species. The information about First Brooding Date and Due Date will be display on the. You can manage multiple birds fast with 'My Events'.

From ' table select birds and click 'Create Event'. It will open a new window. You need to select Date and Time of the event, select category (categories are important for future search and print). You will see the list of birds effected by this event. You can change it by adding new birds or removing some. In memo section you need to describe this event. If you are moving your birds in to other cage or changing it status on sold, deceased or lost you can check the 'Change Profile' and select desirable fields in 'Cage' and 'Status'.

It is a good idea to use this section for most events like 'move, medication, observations, sell.' This way you can keep track on different events later and it takes a minimum of time to record it as for one bird or for many. If you buy or sell several birds at ones you need to enter information only one time.

You can use 'Print' with selected categories from 'My Events' section if you want to see all financial like buy and sell, or all medical for all your birds, or for individual birds from their profiles. LogBooks You can keep all the rest of your records (documents) in LogBooks. This manual is written in one of the LogBook. A LogBook consists of Logs. Each LogBook has a title and each Log has a title too. Logbooks are displayed in the Manage section on the left part of your screen for fast access and they organized by the last modification date.

You can share your logbooks with your friends. To do this go to and under 'share' click on the link.

You can create permissions for friends, so they can read or read and edit your logbooks. You can't share logbooks that somebody else is sharing with you. Sarah Blasko The Overture Movie there. You can only share your own logbooks. You can organize your logs inside logbook by 'ID' or by the log title. Logbooks could be linked to your birds which helps to find the right logbook for your birds.

In most cases the use of Events is more practical. Events were design to save you time. This section displays all images of your birds that you uploaded to the database. You can access your Bird Profile ( ) and Genealogy( ) pages fast by clicking on appropriate icons under the pictures. You also can see full size images that you have uploaded when you click of the bird thumbnail images.

Use setup on top of the pictures to change display order of your pictures. Each account has its limit of space for pictures. You can see how much space you have at the bottom of the screen. Notes: My Photos will be removed shortly, since we already have a better Picture Mode in 'My Birds' table.

Backup and Recovery - this section was disable since fall 2013 On the moment of writing this manual you only can access backup files without recovery option available to the user. We backup database on a weekly basis, so in case of something happens to the server we can restore your information. However, in case you make some changes that you want to reverse you can access backups. To do it go to your ' and click button and then select. You will need to select backup point and restore backup database. You will need to keep window with a timer running to prevent others from changing backup database.

Only one user can control backup database at the same time. So after you finish with backup database please exit the window with the timer, so someone else can use it too. There is no limit on time of how long you can access backup, but if I see that some users overuse it I can put limit on how long you can access backup. You can enter band information from bird profile. You can enter up to four bands, two on each leg.

(Enlarge example of a band icon is on your right). Band icons look like two bird legs with bands are displayed in different parts of the database for easy identification. You enter information from a bird profile.

Check the box 'Identification with band(s)' and then select your bird's bands. It is very easy to select a color, just click on the color boxes. There are two types of bands that system generates; for HTML pages PNG images (28x21 pixels) and for PDF files PNG images (280x212 pixels). The images for PDF files are not only bigger, but also display more information. Below are the examples. If you move mouse over a band icon the band information will be displayed. 28x21 icon for HTML 280x212 for PDF Single color Single color Single color and code two colors Calendar.

Calendar is a new addition to this site. You can see your Calendar on the right side of your. Calendar displays events that already happened and reminds of upcoming. Calendar displays the information from 'My Events' section and from 'Clutches'.

All ' My Events' are displayed on your calendar. From clutches Calendar displays 'First Brooding Date', the dates when eggs where laid with icon of the hen and i f you select a due date for a clutch the calendar will display it too. You can change the dates that Calendar displays by clicking on the calendar icon( ) and selecting other day. By default the calendar starts from yesterday and displays 7 days.

Today is marked as white. Genealogy Page You can access genealogy page by clicking on the bird name from ' table. You should be able to see parents and offsprings of selected bird.

By clicking on the parents or offsprings you can open their genealogy pages. If you click on already selected bird from Genealogy page it will open the 'Bird record'. Offsprings are organized by the year they were born. Under each bird you can see their age if they are in-stock.

When the age displayed as like 5+ it means that the actual age of the bird is unknown and the bird is at least 5 years old or older based on the date it was acquired. The system will display birds pictures that you uploaded, or if they are not available system icons.

Small icons that are used in different parts of the site have bigger equivalents for many species of birds and for different mutations. If we haven't created the big, full size image yet the smaller icons will be displayed. We create new big icons base of the demand for the small equivalent icons. Genetics and Genetic Forecast There are two types of pages for genetics available right now. Genetics for individual bird that you can access from bird's profile, Mutation section and Genetic Forecast for offsprings.

Right now genetics is available only for a few species (,,,,, ). (, and are under construction). You can access Genetic Forecast for offsprings from 'My Pairs' section and Species section. You don't have to be logged-in to access Genetic Forecast. The screen shot with a link for RTPF genetic forecast is on your left and for Gouldian Finches is on your right. If you move your cursor over icons that represent mutations pop-up window will show the description of the mutation.

You can create forecast by phenotype and genotype. After you selected forecast use link at the bottom of the screen to point to selected page. Icons When we talk about icons we mean the bird icons. We are using 'Bird Icons' to represent the birds and they come in different sizes. In 'My Birds', 'My Pairs', 'My Events', 'All Species' sections you can see small icons that represent birds. Icons like these: These small icons are only 16x16 pixels and are the base to all other icons.

There are over three hundred of them with over 90 just for Gouldian Finches. Some of them have other, bigger size equivalents 32x32, 48x48, 128x128, or even 256x256 pixels. The bigger size icons are used in Genealogy Pages and to generate PDF files for print. The big icons are only displayed if you don't upload image in bird profiles. If you uploaded image then the uploaded image will be display instead.

When you select a small icon for Gouldian Finch or other bird you automatically define the bigger icons too even when they are not displayed and look alike in this size. Description should help you to make the right selection. Since the making of big icons is a time consuming process their number is limited. You can see all If you see any mistakes please contact ASAP.

I hope in a future I can find time and inspiration to create high resolution icons for most of popular species of finches and their subspecies and mutations. You can access 'Print and Save' page from ' table and from 'Bird profile' by clicking 'Print' button. You can select one or many birds to print at once. Just check 'Check Box' of birds you want to include from 'My Birds' table and click 'Print'. It will open a new page where you can select the type of the file that server will generate. Right now we have templates to create HTML and PDF files and option to backup records in Excel file. (Excel backup is still in development and not all information will be transfer.).

In my case you can see the icons representing Green Singing Finches, Orange Cheeked Waxbills and others. To access your signature go to ' and click button. (Image on your left). You have to allow signature (by checking Allow signature check-box). Click save to renew data.

Now you should be able to see your image. You can change signature image size: width and height (Auto height is best to automatically adjust the size to fit all your icons) and background color (transparent background looks good against any color). The system create image using Alfa transparency. You can reorganize your icons from the box bellow the signature image; use drag and drop.

Save your changes and review your image. Use the link that provided to enter it in this or other forum in the signature section. When you put image in the signature part of phpBB forum don't forget to put your image address inside .

When you change your birds the information will be updated right away. Don't forget that you can change icons of your birds from 'Bird Profile' and 'My Birds' or 'My Pairs' tables.

This page displays current statistic for your in-stock birds and over the site. It generates charts using 'Google Chart Tools'. If you experience problem with interactive charts in Internet Explorer, please, use older version of image charts. You can see a screen shot of an interactive chart on your right. It shows the most popular species of birds.

If you click on it, it will show the name of the species and the number of birds. You also have access to statistic by countries with significant number of active users like Australia, Canada and USA and others. The country list is created based on the number of active users. When we have enough users from other countries the system will add those countries to the list.
